As a child I was probably one of the few students that looked forward to going back to school.....I love getting new school supplies and seeing my friends, but most of all....I love getting new textbooks. Every year I would enter my new classroom and see the stack of new books just waiting.....waiting for me to open them and discover all of the new and exciting things inside. I remember learning to read with Dick and Jane (I guess that gives away my age just a little:) if you don't know who Dick and Jane are....Google it!)
I love books....the feel of them in my hands, the smell of them when you open them for the first time...the cover, the pages.....just waiting to be read. So............for me becoming a librarian was just a natural progression in my life. Teaching reading is something I enjoy very much. Introducing students to figure out what type of literature they are interested in reading.......just because.......not for a test, not for a book report....but because they want to, that is pure joy!
As a teacher librarian, I am always looking for new ideas for literature, lesson plans, bulletin boards, and book activities. Pinterest is where I go to find many of the ideas that I have. Most of the time I take an idea and tweak it and make it my own.
I began this blog in the hopes that I could share some of my thoughts and ideas with you all. So....grab a comfy chair and your favorite beverage and stay a while! I look forward to getting to know you!
Beth
